Here’s How Captain Marvel Trailer Could Connect The Film to 2012’s The Avengers

The new Captain Marvel trailer has come out and it has brought out so many hidden details that give us a hint at the plot of the film. The film is pretty mysterious upon its plot and even though we have seen two trailers, we only have a vague idea about it.

This will be the ultimate prequel to the MCU and it will give us the sort of origin to many things that we have seen in the MCU till now. Now, fans have spotted a potential connection with The Avengers which will probably explain a plot point from the film.

Since Captain Marvel is a prequel set up in 1995, we will surely get to see many Easter Eggs that will connect to the various MCU films. One of the Easter Eggs we have already come across is the relation to Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. The cast of Captain Marvel on IMDB consists of an actor named Mel Powell who is playing “Pegasus Guard Ficke.”

Now the point to be noted here is that P.E.G.A.S.U.S. is a scientific base located in the Adirondack Mountains and we have already seen it in previously in MCU as it appeared in Iron Man 2. In the movie, we saw that Tony had retrieved the technology which Howard Stark was working on, and it was actually called ‘Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S’.

It later showed up in The Avengers and as the official Guidebooks of Marvel have explained P.E.G.A.S.U.S was a joint venture between S.H.I.E.L.D. and NASA in the MCU. Now it will show up again in the MCU in the prequel story of Captain Marvel where it could be tremendously useful as it is dedicated to the study of alternative energy.

So, the original purpose of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. was to focus upon the Tesseract, but since Captain Marvel is known to absorb energy and goes Binary if she absorbs enough of it, she would surely be in the records of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S.

Now the new update states that some fans have spotted a logo linked to P.E.G.A.S.U.S upon the wings of the Quinjet that Carol Danvers and Nick Fury are seen flying in the new Captain Marvel trailer. Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S has a facility in the Mojave Desert which was infiltrated by Loki in 2012’s The Avengers, and the fact that Captain Marvel will be partly set in California leads people to believe that there will be some sort of connections established to that.

People have already jumped to the conclusion that we will see some experiments related to the Tesseract in this film. So just how many things are supposed to be in this film? Feige has confirmed that Captain Marvel will also bring forward some important elements of the Quantum Realm, then there are the Kree Skrull Wars which the film is based upon, and now the Tesseract? Boy, this film is stuffed.

It involves some significant characters to the Captain Marvel lore, and some of those are suspicious to spoiler reveals from the film. Jude Law, for instance, was being believed to play MCU’s version of Mar-Vell, but the leaked Funko Pop action figures catalogue has confirmed that he will be playing the arch nemesis of Captain Marvel, Yon-Rogg.

Since this is an origin story, Rogg may not be the villain of the film just yet, and his character may be built up as a villain for the sequels. The main villain for this film is going to be the Skrull leader Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).

Also, Oscar Nominated actor Annette Bening seems to be playing a mysterious character and some fans believe that her character could be MCU’s version of Supreme Intelligence. So, this film seemingly packs quite a lot of stuff. It has a lot riding upon its shoulders.

It has to give us a thrilling story that people fall in love with, Captain Marvel has to be established as the strongest MCU character, the link to other MCU films has to be there, and most of all, it has to answer the major questions about Captain Marvel’s absence, Fury’s reluctance to call her and stuff like that.

Hopefully, MCU’s first ever female-led superhero film will be a major success. Rest we will only find that out when the movie comes out on March 8, 2019.
