Marvel Teases Future MCU Films Will Be Set In Space

Avengers: Infinity War is about to happen. It will see Earth’s mightiest heroes in a head-on collision with the Mad Titan Thanos as he comes to Earth for the Infinity Stones for his quest to conquer the Universe. But it is still not sure who survives and who does not in the Infinity War saga. No one, not even Kevin Feige himself, is ready to let us in on some inside secrets about the possible outcome of the mega Marvel event.

But all is not lost when it comes to good news. Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios has given us a sliver of hope to look forward to. In the CCXP Marvel Panel, he hinted at the possible future for the superheroes who do survive Thanos’s onslaught. And by the looks of it, the news is everything that fans ever need to be hyped and psyched about.

After the Infinity War saga, the future Marvel movies will see the Avengers move to space. Outer Space is going to be the new battleground for the surviving heroes of Earth.

For over a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has portrayed the battles between the good guys and the bad guys on Earth. With the notable exception of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, rest of the movies happen on planet Earth. But that is soon about to change with phase 4 if the Marvel’s head is to be believed.

When asked about a possible path that the phase 4 could carve for the Marvel heroes, Kevin Feige gave a reply to shiver everyone’s whiskers:

“If the Avengers survive, we will see more films with them in space,” Feige said. “I love and would like to see more films in space.”

The Avengers will face their first comic level threat in the form of Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War will see the heroes fighting Thanos and his Black Order to wrestle the possession of the remaining Infinity Stones. This movie will help the heroes gain necessary insight as to what is happening beyond their big blue planet. It will create awareness among the superheroes about the threats emanating from the unknown regions of the vast cosmos and beyond as well as give them more knowledge about a supernatural element within the MCU.

The heroes will realize the presence of the super advanced nation of Wakanda and the existence of many more superheroes within the MCU. So many ramifications would be enough for the heroes to explore boundaries beyond the ones they are comfortable with.

Infinity War will introduce Thanos but the future movies need to introduce villains that seem more threatening than the Mad Titan. Marvel has pretty much exhausted their Arsenal of villains on Earth. The only way to look for more is up, into outer space. And that is where the heroes will next find themselves fighting another battle in.

Earth would still need protection, make no mistake. But once in a while, the Avengers could head to space to deal with more dangerous threats. The future Avengers movies could explore this facet of the MCU.

Moreover, with the Disney-Fox negotiations rumored to be coming to fruition, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could be coming back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both the groups have a range of space-based villains like Annihilus, Galactus, and the Shi’ar Empire. Space-based movies could also pave way for superheroes like Nova and the Silver Surfer to make their official debut in the Marvel Movies.

Even without the Fox merger, a space-themed MCU would still sound awesome and look great on screen. Earth has had enough protection. It is time to explore further. Hopefully, Avengers: Infinity War could give our heroes an opportunity for a spacewalk.
