Godzilla vs. Kong: Writer Confirms More Titans In Hollow Earth

Godzilla vs Kong. witnessed the clash between the two Titans. Godzilla and Kong were at each other’s throats. It was not until Jia convinced Kong that Godzilla is not the enemy. It was at this moment when Kong and Godzilla joined forces and took on MechaGodzilla. It was clear that none of them were able to take on MechaGodzilla individually. So much so, MechaGodzilla actually gave Godzilla the beating of his life. It was a moment to be recorded in history, which was clear from Godzilla’s reaction as well. In the final moments, Godzilla and Kong bid each other farewell and left to lead their separate lives.

The movie heavily revolved around the trip to Hollow Earth. It’s considered to be the origins of these titans. It was clear from Kong’s reaction that he is finally home as he knew where to go, and what to do. Kong truly felt the king that he is. He even picked up his ax and sat on his throne. But can we expect more Titans coming from the Hollow Earth?

Godzilla vs. Kong’s writer Max Borenstein recently spoke to Collider about several aspects of the new MonsterVerse movie. This included discussing the size of Hollow Earth and if it secretly was the home to other Titans. Borenstein was specifically asked if other monsters were asleep in the location, and he said, “Oh, I would venture to say there must be, right? It’s a big hollow world.”

The ancient home, Hollow Earth, is where Kong found the ax that he used to fight Godzilla. It was the home to a powerful energy source Apex used to power Mechagodzilla. When kong first re-entered the Hollow Earth, he encountered out Titans too. namely – Nazouki and Warbat. But the movie had no time to dwell into their origins. Hence, it is fairly believable that there will be other Titans as well. This surely leads up to an exciting sequel, or a spin-off, solely focusing on the development of the Hollow Earth.

If we look closely, then Kong only encounters Nazouki and Warbat, the two Titans. There were other creatures too, but they might not qualify to be called Titans. Moreover, the movie did not actually dwell on Hollow Earth properly. Kong went where we had to. As a result, the movie only had a fraction of the Hollow Earth that was discovered and shown. It is believable that there would be other Titans too, spread across the Hollow Earth. This leaves the writers and the viewers to a whole new world and a bunch of possibilities.

The ax played an undeniable role in Godzilla vs. Kong. If we look at it in its actuality, then the trip to Hollow Earth was basically dedicated to Kong wielding the ax. The ax was definitely the key to more stories, according to director Adam Wingard, who says, “It’s something that we just kind of tease at in the movie and hopefully we can explore in later films. But, yeah, there is a real backstory behind it.” If there are other asleep Titans in Hollow Earth, it will take future installments of the MonsterVerse to show them. It’d also flesh out the Hollow Earth theory even more about underground tunnels and caves, as well as why Kong’s family eventually left their utopia and settled on Skull Island.

As Kong uses the ax in his battle against Godzilla, and it is noticeably seen that the ax is able to absorb Godzilla’s atomic breath. Until Kong is once again armed with the ax made from Godzilla’s dorsal plate. The decision to have Kong use a weapon perfectly tailored to defeating Godzilla – whether he crafts it or retrieves it from the site of the Titan War – is an ingenious one as it offers narrative depth beyond just an extended monstrous fistfight.

The fourth installment in the MonsterVerse has pit the King of the Monsters against the King of Skull Island. Though both monsters have been pop culture icons for more than half of a century, this is their second big-screen meeting. The first happened in Toho’s 1962 crossover, King Kong vs. Godzilla, which had an ending that leaned in Kong’s favor. Like the original fight, Kong will get a size boost to pose a physical challenge to Godzilla.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, and Brian Tyree Henry.
