Flash Showrunner Confirms Flash Will Die:
The CW Arrowverse shows have been building up the all-time greatest crossover event since the crossover that happened last year. The Monitor was a prominent character of the previous crossover, and he has dropped a major bomb on last night’s season premiere of The Flash. Those who haven’t seen the episode should go and watch it because the rest of the article does contain major spoilers for The Flash – Into the Void.
So, Barry & Iris get a visit from The Monitor and he informs them that Barry will die on December 10, 2019. It’s just like the date of Iris’ death was set in Season 3, and now the date of Barry has been set in December. This date lies between the crossover nights, i.e. during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Monitor stated that Barry will die, but his big sacrifice will save Billions of lives.
So far we’ve been pretty excited about the crossover event as a lot has been teased. Brandon Routh will appear as Kingdom Come Superman. Smallville’s Tom Welling will be a part of the crossover, and the crossover will run for 5 nights. The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman & Black Lightning will all be a part of the crossover event. Moreover, the Crisis event is also going to show a minor connection to the DCEU by reusing a bit of footage from the films that we’ve seen so far.
Amidst all this excitement, a major bomb has been dropped by The Monitor. Over the years, we’ve seen a headline very frequently. This headline comes from a future news article written by Iris herself. The Headline states that “Flash Missing, Vanishes in Crisis” and the date below it is April 25, 2014. By the end of Season 5, Nora Allen (Barry & Iris’ daughter) sacrifices herself and vanishes from the timeline. So, the headline we had been seeing for 5 years just moves up to 2019.
This gives us a major confirmation for the fact that Barry is indeed going to die during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. While all of us know that this death is not going to be permanent since there is an entire season left, things still do get quite interesting. Even the The Flash boss Eric Wallace backs this up by confirming that every episode leading up to the crossover will be based upon this little info that the Monitor gave on last night’s premiere.
As per CBR, Wallace said:
“We know that on December 10, 2019, the Flash will die…We’re not messing around…The Monitor showing up and making a cosmic pronouncement drives you to extremes in order to fight against or accept the coming Crisis. And every episode this season…is all about ‘do I accept death or do I fight it?’” Wallace also mentioned that, “Crisis turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to…The Flash because it created an immediacy to things.”
Wallace previously also confirmed the fact that this crossover event will affect the entire season 6 of The Flash. He said that the crossover event is “not separate from any story throughout the entire 22 episodes.” So, the question that stands now is “How will the Flash die, and how is he going to save Billions?” Things are going to get crazy. But before we get into the crazy, here’s a tease of what we’re going to get in this season:
This set photo is the reason why we should be extremely excited about the upcoming crossover event that will begin on December 8. We see Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, Brandon Routh as Kingdom Come Superman, Flash, Elongated Man, Black Lightning, Iris, John Diggle, Lyla Michaels, the Monitor and a new version of Harrison Wells.
After the Crisis kicks off on December 8 on Supergirl, it will run through December 9 on Batwoman & The Flash on December 10. Flash’s death will probably be the major cliff hanger for the holidays. The crossover event will then return on January 14 with the midseason premiere of Arrow and a “special episode” of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Let’s see what happens.
