Game of Thrones Prequel:
The greatest fantasy show in the history of TV, Game of Thrones is coming to an end in the next two months and it is going to feel like the end of an era when that happens. For the last 8 years, we’ve been crushing over this amazing emotional drama fantasy thriller extravaganza. But it is going to come to an end and we won’t get anything as good as this ever again. There’s still hope for getting something close to Game of Thrones, if not better as HBO has put 5 Prequel shows in development.
They’ve already ordered a pilot for one of those series and now things are moving forward faster than you could imagine! Coming from The Hollywood Reporter is a report that suggests that HBO has cast 5 actors to the pilot of their first Game of Thrones Prequel. Here are those actors – Marquis Rodriguez (Netflix’s When They See Us), John Simm (Doctor Who and Life on Mars), Richard McCabe (Hulu’s Harlots), John Heffernan (Collateral actor) and Dixie Egerickx (Patrick Melrose and The Little Stranger).
Back in 2018, Naomi Watts was also added to this prequel and she will be the one taking charge ahead of these 5 actors. We don’t really know anything much about the roles of all these actors, but we do have a hint upon how this prequel is going to shape up. Here’s what HBO’s official logline for the series reads:
“Taking place thousands of years before the events of GAME OF THRONES, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
Moving ahead of the actors, we know that Jane Goldman is the one writer for this prequel series while the other writers developing other Game of Thrones prequels include Brian Helgeland (Legend), Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers) with George R.R. Martin involved with different shows on different levels.
Well, that’s enough for what’s about to come. Let’s talk a bit about the present. Game of Thrones Season 8 is going to hit HBO on April 14, and we now know how long each of the episodes is going to be. Coming in is 410 minutes of sheer awesomeness as we recently got the confirmation for the run time of every episode. Here are the release dates and lengths of all the episodes:
- Episode 1: 54 minutes – April 14th
- Episode 2: 58 minutes – April 21st
- Episode 3: 60 minutes – April 28th
- Episode 4: 78 minutes – May 5th
- Episode 5: 80 minutes – May 12th
- Episode 6: 80 minutes – May 19th
Well, this clearly matches with what Director David Nutter earlier had to say about the episodes of the final season. He said:
“Season 8 episodes will all I think be longer than 60 minutes. They’ll be dancing around the bigger numbers, I know that for sure. I’m completely satisfied with how season 8 ends. I think that [the showrunners] did a tremendous job, and they took into consideration what the fans want, as well as what is right as far as storytelling is concerned. I guarantee there’s going to be lots of surprises and shocking moments, but it’s really very compelling stuff.

So get ready for the final season to arrive as only we are just 17 days away from it. But it is good that HBO isn’t leaving the show with Season 8 as 5 more prequels are also on the way.
