Avengers: Infinity War – This New Theory Says Doctor Strange Triggered Captain Marvel’s Return

Avengers: Infinity War is hugely successful at the Box office and has become the highest grossing superhero movie of all times. One of the biggest reasons is the Brolin’s portrayal of Thanos. He is the most terrifying, dreaded villain that Avengers had ever faced and he pummeled them throughout.

As we saw that Doctor Strange literally witnessed 14,000,605 alternate futures and found one outcome where the Avengers actually came out on top against the Mad Titan.

So, he let Thanos take the Time Stone and spare Tony’s life which ultimately leads to Thanos wiping out half the Universe. But with this ploy, we have reason to believe that the move he played would be of great significance ultimately, and for the Avengers to win, some of them may have to die first, which is what happened.

Since many of the Avengers got disintegrated, there is room for more characters to come in and have significant roles. This will also allow characters like Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Captain Marvel to have big story arcs in the movie since they were totally absent from Infinity War.

Captain Marvel’s return was explicitly teased in the end credits scene. She will have her own solo movie that will come out right before Avenger 4 and that movie would explain why Captain Marvel has been absent all this time and where has she been.

Avengers: Infinity War

Well, till now we believe that Strange played the move to actually have the Avengers win ultimately, but this new theory by a Reddit user, WamsyTheOneAndOnly suggests that Strange actually did it to bring back Captain Marvel. This theory says that in the future in which the Avengers won, Strange had to set off some Dominoes, which actually means time travel to the past. Here’s what his theory said:

“Doctor strange knows what happens in the future, he sets it up in fact. He knew that Thanos had to snap his fingers at that exact right time and under all these certain conditions for them to win. He’s setting up Captain Marvel’s return to Earth. I believe he’ll appear in the CM movie and tell Fury it is vital for him to carry around with him the pager to contact Captain Marvel.”

The reason for a Hydra agent to be aware of Stephen Strange’s name and why he may be an enemy to Hydra’s agenda could also be explained by this theory. It continues:

“Nick Fury, knowing about Steven Strange lists him as an ally to shield which of course is how Hydra knows about him despite him being a neurosurgeon (anyone who is an ally of SHIELD is a threat to HYDRA).”

This Reddit fanboy also made a valid point upon Fury’s reaction to seeing the civilians and Maria Hill get disintegrated right in front of him, as he was shocked but not really surprised. Strange’s previous warning gave the hint here.

“He warns him of an event in the future referring to the people turning to dust without warning, this is why Fury’s instant reaction to seeing Maria Hill turn to ash was to run to the pager, but what our good friend Sorcerer Supreme didn’t mention was the fact that he does not survive hence the “Mother Fu…” at the very end. We should also take note that the way he says it isn’t panicked or scared, he’s confident that Strange knows what he’s doing.”

Well, this does make quite a lot of sense and it would not be very surprising for us to see something like this happen in the movie. Since it is a theory which may or may not comes true, we should take it as a grain of salt and nothing more. But fan theories have turned out to be true in the past, so anything could happen.
