5 Most CONTROVERSIAL Couples From Marvel And DC You Don’t Know About

Comic books are known to explore and break different aspects of societal norms, sometimes as an example and sometimes just to make characters and plot lines interesting. There have been many questionable pairings through the years, but a few have been standouts. Here are the five most controversial couples in Marvel and DC comics:

Ms. Marvel And Marcus

Marcus, son of Ms. Marvel’s long-time enemy Immortus had a disturbing obsession with the hero. After weeks of wooing her did not work, Marcus used his father’s machines to seduce and impregnate Carol aka Ms. Marvel. She returned to Earth pregnant with no prior memories in the Avengers headquarters and soon gives birth to…Marcus? The villain had impregnated Carol with his clone, to lay a sick claim on the hero. She ends up falling for her [rapidly fast growing baby]Marcus and follows him back to his home planet. And all the while, Marvel’s teammates do nothing but wave goodbye to Carol as she goes off to space with her rapist.

Dick Grayson And Helena Wayne

Helena Wayne is the daughter of Batman and Catwoman in an alternate universe. Although Helena and Dick Grayson are not blood-related, they were raised together like step siblings. So their relationship could be viewed as somewhat incestuous, given that their father figure is the same man aka Bruce Wayne.

Scarlet Witch And The Vision

Scarlet witch and The Vision’s relationship disturbed a lot of readers, mainly for the fact that The Vision was actually a robot. The duo even got married and had children, with only two opposition to the coupling from Hawkeye who was in love with Wanda and her brother Quicksilver. Wanda went on to have two children with Vision but it was soon revealed that the children were actually fragments of the demon Mephisto’s soul which Wanda’s powers had transformed into babies. She spiraled out of control killing Hawkeye and her husband Vision.

The Joker And Harley Quinn

The pairing of Harley with The Joker was a controversial one from the beginning of their courtship. Harley was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist working in Arkham Asylum. After treating The Joker, she fell in love with the villain. He proceeded to manipulate her both physically and mentally as the relationship between the two became nearly an obsession. Due to their unhealthy and abusive relationship, the duo has become an infamous and controversial pairing.

Scarlet Witch And Quicksilver

Everyone knows that Scarlet Witch and quicksilver are the children of X-Men villain Magneto. But that was not the only twisted part of their family, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff from the Ultimate Universe had a difficult upbringing. Maybe that’s why they were attracted to each other and no one except Steve Rogers had a problem with it. When Quicksilver was rejected by his father, he sought comfort in the arms of his sister and “not in a sisterly way” either. Thankfully the relationship was not explored in the movie Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
