8 Movies Which Were Not Your Money’s Worth in 2016

2016 was a great year for moviegoers as the year was filled with some really wonderful movies. The number of financially successful movies was also pretty much high. Now it’s time to look at the bad side. Some of the really pathetic and worse movies were also released last year and let’s have a look at 10 movies which were not your money’s worth in 2016.

The Darkness

The Darkness is directed by Greg McLean and stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, and Jennifer Morrison. We have seen some really good horror flicks and some of the worst horror flicks in 2017. But this movie is one of the worst horror flicks ever made. We still wonder why a talented actor like Kevin Bacon was wasted in the movie. The unwanted and far- fetched sequences pile up the boredom to its core.

Shut In

Shut In is directed by Farren Blackburn and stars Naomi Watts, Jacob Tremblay, Charlie Heaton, Oliver Platt, and David Cubitt. What exactly is this movie? One of the boring films ever made and this one had no reason to exist at all. What we get to see in the movie is Naomi Watts wandering around a house for 90 minutes and a forced twist ruining the movie completely. The concept was pretty decent, but the execution failed like anything.

Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed is directed by Justin Kurzel and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael K. Williams. Movies adapted from video games have never been that great and everyone thought that Assassin’s Creed would put an end to that curse. But this one is also another rotten apple that offers nothing but yawn fest. It’s time for Hollywood filmmakers to think seriously about adapting video games as each and every big screen adaptations fail to impress the audience.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Independence Day: Resurgence is directed by Roland Emmerich and stars Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Jessie Usher, and Maika Monroe. The sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day failed miserably in recreating the magic of the predecessor and it was also a total mess. There are a lot of unwanted characters and each and every character were given a great amount of time to react which ultimately turned out to be really boring.

Max Steel

Max Steel is directed by Stewart Hendler and stars Ben Winchell, Ana Villafane, Andy Garcia, Maria Bello, and Michael Doyle. Has anyone actually seen this one? This superhero movie was pathetic and boring from the very beginning to the end. Even the director wasn’t pretty sure about what he was doing and it was very much evident throughout the film. The screenplay is silly and amateurish. Let’s not talk about the performances as they are also equally bad.

When the Bough Breaks

When the Bough Breaks is directed by Jon Cassar and stars Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Jaz Sinclair, Theo Rossi, and Romany Malco. This movie was meant to be a thriller, but unfortunately, it offers the least thrills. We all have seen these types of movies enormous times and this one also has nothing new to offer. This movie can be only considered as Screen Gem’s (studio) September movie with same actors shuffled over and over again and they have been doing it for the past four years.

Cell

Cell is directed by Tod Williams and stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Stacy Keach, and Clark Sarullo. This movie is an adaptation of the 2006 Stephen King novel of the same name. The movie is horribly bad and you would probably laugh your ass off in the opening sequence (the airport scene) as it was a pathetically directed stuff. The whole film makes no sense and the ending will definitely piss you off.

Ben-Hur

Ben-Hur is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars Jack Huston, Morgan Freeman, Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro, and Nazanin Boniadi. It’s not that easy to reboot classics and the same theory is applicable here too. The 1959 Academy Award winning Ben-Hur remains as one of the greatest movies of all time. The 2016 flick relied heavily on CGI and choppy editing to cover up the flaws, but the ultimate result was horrible. The movie turned out to be one of the biggest box-office disasters of 2016.
