5 Times Bruce Banner Was Cured of Being The Incredible Hulk

The movie of The Incredible Hulk has yet to find a cure for his radiation problem, but the comics have long shown Bruce Banner curing himself of The Hulk. Here are the top five instances where this happened:

Banner and Hulk Split, Part Two

The most out there story of separation was seen in Incredible Hulk #5. He made a deal with Doctor Doom to separate the Hulk and Bruce Banner’s mind. Banner’s mind was placed in a clone body, and as part of their deal, Bruce became a slave to the Doctor. Banner escaped and became unhinged. In 2012’s Incredible Hulk #1, the duo fought each other until a gamma bomb re-emerged the two. The two ultimately came to a truce and agreed to work together, balancing each other out.

Because Of The Red Hulk

In World War Hulk #5, He returned to Earth seeking revenge on the planet for killing his queen. He was captured by The Avengers after they managed to knock him out. Bruce Banner returned but was held in the custody of S.H.I.E.L.D. Red one broke Banner out of capture in Incredible Hulk #600. He absorbs all of the gamma radiation from Banner, leaving him unable to turn again.

Silver Surfer Loses His Cool

In Incredible Hulk #250, The Silver Surfer took out all of the gamma radiation from Banner’s body, make He’s existence obsolete. The surfer then asked Banner to provide him with gamma radiation that would give him enough power to break the barrier that prevented him from leaving Earth. Banner had to absorb the radiation, but when he did, He returned angrier than ever. The two fought, but Surfer re-siphoned the energy and broke the barrier. He had again placed the radiation into Banner’s body in order to save his life.

 Mr. Fantastic Finishes Banner’s Work

In Incredible Hulk #105, He faced a radioactive ogre known as The Missing Link who absorbed all his gamma radiation. Bruce Banner returned, but only for a temporary time. The brilliant scientist Reed Richards aka Mr.Fantastic gave notes to Bruce containing information about a device that could turn him back into Banner. The problem was that it may have risked a dire consequence. After he fought The Missing Link, Reed’s device turned him back into Banner.

The First Time

In The Incredible Hulk #4, Bruce Banner developed a gamma ray machine that could turn him from Hulk to his normal self. While the machine cured him permanently, Banner decided that Hulk was needed at times. He continued to use the machine to flip and reverse when he transformed. He ended up liking being in the form. In Incredible Hulk #6, Banner finally used the machine for the last time, with Banner vowing to never become the Hulk again.
