8 Movie Sequels You Didn’t Know Are Coming In 2017!

Sequels of some of the most established franchises (Furious 8, Guardian of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, etc.) are gearing up for its release in 2017 and you probably know most of them. But there are some other sequels which haven’t got the attention due to various reasons. Let’s have a look at 8 movie sequels you didn’t know are coming in 2017.

Hellraiser: Judgement

Hellraiser: Judgement directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe is the tenth film in the Hellraiser franchise. Only the first four parts had a theatrical release and the rest had a direct-to-video release. The franchise is in a terrible shape right now as the sequels were pathetic as hell. The story plot revolves around three detectives and their search for a brutal serial killer. Director Tunnicliffe said that the movie will be a standalone one and will be much different than the previous Hellraiser flicks.

Underworld: Blood Wars

Underworld: Blood Wars directed by Anna Foerster is the fifth film in the Underworld franchise. Yup, they are making it again and again! The series, which was equally panned by both the critics and normal viewers, has managed to reach five movies. It was initially planned to release the movie this year, however, they pushed back the date to 2017. Get ready to witness the vampire hunt once again.

3. Rings

Rings directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez is the third installment in the American Ring franchise. The franchise has died long ago and the Rings is coming to give a new life to the saga. Unlike the first two installments, Naomi Watts won’t appear in the third installment. Just like its predecessors, the story plot of this movie also revolves around a lady who watches the legendary video and you all know what happens next.

Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania

Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania directed by Henry Yu is a direct-to-video flick and a sequel to the 2007 film Surf’s Up. Fans have been waiting for the Surf’s Up sequel and it’s finally happening after long ten years. The most interesting thing is that WWE is somehow associated with the film as John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Paige, and Vince McMahon are giving voice to the characters.

Re-Animator: Evolution

Re-Animator: Evolution directed by Serge Levin is the fourth installment in the Re-Animator franchise. The movies are based on Herbert West-Reanimator (short story) by H. P. Lovecraft. The original film was equally gory and hilarious and has attained a cult status. The two sequels which followed couldn’t match up to the original, but the upcoming flick seems to be a soft reboot of the original.

Saw: Legacy

Saw: Legacy directed by The Spierig Brothers (Peter and Michael Spierig) is the eighth installment in the saw franchise. We all thought that Saw 3D (Saw 7) was the final movie in the franchise as it came with the caption ‘The Final Chapter.’ Doctor Gordon’s character was a real surprise in Saw 3D as a shocking revelation was made about his character in the ending. The story plot regarding the movie is still kept as a top secret and we all will have to wait a little more to find about it.

Flatliners

Flatliners directed by Niels Arden Oplev is a sequel to the 1990 film of the same name. It’s also interesting to note that sequel is releasing after long 27 years since the release of the original film. Initially, many thought that the new Flatliners is a remake of the original, but Kiefer Sutherland’s presence in the movie confirms that it’s actually a sequel. Ellen page will play the lead role in the new version and the story plot will be much similar to the original.

Amityville: The Awakening

Amityville: The Awakening directed by Franck Khalfoun is the seventeenth installment in the Amityville horror franchise. The filming was completed in 2014 and the release was delayed multiple times. The trailer has got all the creepiness and occasional jump scares that a horror movie needs to have. But at the end of the day, this one also seems to be another lame haunted house chilling installment of the franchise.
