Marvel Infinity Stones: Here’s What You Need To Know About Them

The Collector from Guardians Of The Galaxy said,” Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones. These stones, it seems, can only be brandished by beings of extraordinary strength. These carriers can use the stone to mow down entire civilizations like wheat in a field.” From Phase 1, movie audiences have seen the Marvel superheroes battle some scary looking villains for some very powerful stones. With the amount of time that has passed, it can be hard to keep track of which stone is the Mind gem or the Power gem as they divert from the comics.

Here is a breakdown of all the Infinity Stones from MCU:

The Space Stone:

The Space Stone’s power is to open portals from one world to another. It was introduced as The Tesseract in Captain America: The First Avenger. It made an appearance again in The Avengers, becoming the power source that Loki used to teleport the Chitauri army and control Hawkeye to become his minion. Thor took the Tesseract back to Asgard for safe keeping at the end of The Avengers.

The Reality Stone:

The Reality Stone is a mysterious red liquid that can transform reality and universe in some way that was not really explained. It took on a solid form that was known as The Aether. Jane Foster discovered a pocket dimension where the Stone was hidden in Thor: The Dark World. Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves eventually harnessed the stone from Foster’s body. Thor took the  stone back to Asgard, but had it handed over to The Collector for safe keeping.

The Power Stone:

The Power Stone has an infinite amount of explosive power that could blow up entire planets. It was seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy, where Ronan tried to use the Stone to blow up Xander, the home of the Nova Corps. The Stone was last seen in the vault of the Nova Corps.

Tony stark and Bruce banner used the Stone to create Ultron who in turn used it to create Vision. Vision wears The Mind Stone on his forehead as its protector.
