There are many popular actors like Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Mark Hamill, and now Jared Leto who have appeared as the nemesis of Batman. Well, there were several actors who missed out the iconic role. We bring you four popular ones who almost donned the white make-up and green wig for Joker.

1. Ray Liotta

The American actor, Ray Liotta, is known for his celebrated performance in 1990’s Goodfellas, donned a persona of the villainous character and proved himself as a legendary actor. The was shortlisted by Tim Burton to play the Joker. Well, the actor turned down the role when he was approached and it seems like he missed on a big opportunity.

2. Adrien Brody

Adrien Brody is an American actor who is known for his acclaimed performance in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist (2002). He was considered to play the role of Joker in The Dark Knight, but the role landed in the hands of Heath Ledger, who was massively praised in the movie.

In a report by We Got This Covered, Brody said: “I would do it if I feel I can contribute something valuable and that the role would be interesting to me,” Brody said. “To me, the villains are way fun! But [studios] don’t offer me those roles. If there is an opportunity to do something like that and play a comic book hero or villain, that’s not something I’m fundamentally opposed to.”

3. Willem Dafoe

The American actor, Willem Dafoe, is known popularly know to play the Green Goblin in 2002’s Spider-Man. Before Jack Nicholson nabbed the role of Joker in 1989 Batman, Dafoe was one of the top choices to play the iconic role.

4. Robin Williams

Late Robin Williams, was a versatile actor who dipped his toes as a writer, comedian, producer, singer and voice artist. The actor was popularly known for his role in 1995 Jumanji. He publicly expressed in playing the role but was screwed by Warner Bros.
