Aquaman is maybe the most underrated superheroes of the D.C Universe. Batman and Superman may have overshadowed him for decades but that is all about to change. He Was A Founding Member Of The Justice League:
Aquaman along with Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Some have argued that Aquaman was just an additional character in the Justice League due to comic book editions of Justice League: Throne of Atlantis where he joined the team he had originally created.
The film versions have gone with Aquaman being a founding member as seen in WB’s Justice League and Batman Vs Superman where he made a cameo.
He Controls Fish Through Telepathy But Cannot Talk To Them:
The rumor that has plagued Aquaman since the beginning of the comics is that he can talk to fish. The truth is, he cannot talk to them but has telepathic control over sea life. Since most sea life’s brains are too primal, he uses his telepathy to navigate and order a sea creature to do his bidding. He also protects the sea life and they help him in return in many of his adventures.

In SpongeBob SquarePants, there are the characters Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, who are the parody of Aquaman and Aqualad. Mermaid Man’s enemy is the Man Ray, who is basically a man in a stingray suit, which could be seen as a parody of Black Manta. He was also featured in a parody episode of Family Guy.
He Is The King Of Atlantis:
In the DC Universe, the biggest country in the world is Atlantis which consists of five oceans and the seven seas. This makes Atlantis the largest state in the world with a total surface area covered of approximately 361,900,000 kms. and Arthur as the King of a big underground kingdom that is twice as large as the rest of the world combined.
He Once Had A Son Who Died:
Aquaman and his wife Mera had a son named Arthur Jr. who was killed by Black Manta. The death of their son put a great strain on Mera and Aquaman’s relationship even causing Mera to leave him at one point.
