Top 5 most Intense Moments from House Of Cards Season 4

House Of Cards Season 4 was arguably the best season yet. It received excellent reviews from both audiences and critics alike (*cough* BVS *cough*). Part of House of Card’s secret to success is the consistency with which it delivers its content. There are absolutely no fillers and the writing is precise. This only amplified with the latest season, with each episode delivering more intensity than the previous. Let’s have a look at the Top 5 moments.

The Opening Sequence

Season 4 of House of Cards opens with an intense and weird setting. Lucas Goodwin is seen in a prison cell reciting erotica to his cellmate who is masturbating in the lower bunk. On a deep note, it might seem like a commentary on the show’s plot or Lucas’s life, however, considering how Lucas’s arc progresses, it seems quite unnecessary and out of place. Regardless, It does its job perfectly in getting the viewers back in HOC mode and setting a tone for the intensity that was going to follow in the next episodes.

Claire and Thomas Yates get romantically involved

The relationship between Claire and Yates isn’t as intense as it is cringe-worthy. The “Scorpio” writer reappears as a scriptwriter for Frank’s campaign after being a prominent part of the last season. Things go sideways when he accompanies Claire to Texas and ends up sleeping with her. To his, and no one else’s shock, Frank approves of their relationship. Rest assured, the scene when the 3 of them have breakfast together is awkward, to say the least.

Frank’s crazy dream sequence

A major part of this season was getting to know Frank’s internal self. It was Astonishing to see how the writers managed to develop the main character after 3 whole seasons. Regardless, said development happens in a crazy dream that Frank has while he is undergoing surgery. In the dream, he sees himself in a three-way with his two murder victims that’s indicative of a lot more than just sex. He comes out a changed man as he apologizes to Claire and aims to work with her.

Assassination attempt

Making a show about US presidents, you can only ignore assassinations for so long. It was about time someone shot Underwood but what took everyone with surprise was how abruptly it all went down. No one saw the assassination coming at the hands of Goodwin. The scene became that much more intense when Meechum died. He had been a great “Rock” for Frank and his sudden death took everyone by surprise especially after the bonding that was going on between Frank and him.

Miller Dying

And by far the most intense moment this season was the conclusion/closing. As Frank refuses to meet ICO’s demands, Miller’s throat is sliten as the cabinet watches. While others look away, Frank and Claire stare at the screen, knowing it to be a part of the macro plan to draw away attention from the Herald’s story on Frank. As the camera zooms in both of them break the Fourth Wall and declare “We don’t submit to terror, We make the terror”. This is easily the most intense moment in the whole season and sets us up for the next season perfectly.
