The Walking Dead: What is the Mystery behind Carol’s List?

Anyone who has caught up with TWD knows Carol is going through some major character build right now. She’s undergoing, what seems to be a massive change and is emotionally unstable. Although this has been elevating gradually, indication came last week when a mysterious list appeared towards the end of the episode.

Carol’s list, if you don’t already know is a Kill List. As in the people (humans) she has killed. At the end she is seen totaling the number to 18. Here’s a decoded version of Carol’s Kill List:

R, K,D – Ryan, Karen, And David

Ryan, Lizzie’s father, is Carol’s first human kill and it is in quite the humane way. Ryan is infected and Carol ends his suffering by putting him to sleep while his daughters watch on. Karen and David are next on the list, who are infected during an epidemic that sweeps through the prison. Carol drags their bodies to a chamber and sets them on fire to prevent the infection from spreading. This in turn got Carol kicked out of the group only to be reunited in the Season 5 premier.

L – Lizzie

Lizzie’s death (or murder) was one of the most impactful one for both the audience and Carol. Lizzie, the mentally disturbed kid, killed her sister and was ready to do the same to baby Judith and so, Carol shot her. It was specially impactful because Carol had lost her own daughter earlier in the show and no matter what her acts were, Lizzie was just a disturbed child.

“Terminus/Courtyard 3”

This part in Carol’s list refers to the people she kills from outside the Terminus fences in an attempt to save Rick and the group. She shots down two snipers and further creates a blast that results in the death of another. This is an iconic point in the character’s story as the audience had doubt about Carol’s morality after the Karen and David incident, but thankfully, she turns out to be a savior.

“Candle Woman 4”

This is a strange part of Carol’s list because while the number 4 signifies 4 kills, there is only one on-screen death. Here, Carol refers to the woman in Candle Room at Terminus. Carol shoots her in the leg and leaves her to be eaten by walkers. It can be assumed that Carol kills 3 more people around that but that had to have happened off-screen.

“ Ws – 7”

Finally, in her last note she records killing 7 people during the Wolves’s invasion of Alexandria. Carol kills one of them and steals her attire. She goes on to kill 6 more of them in spectacular fashion showing shades of incredible bad-assery. This episode brought about a side of Carol that everyone wanted to see but had not seen since the Terminus attacks. These kills combined with the above 4 take her kill score to 18.
