4 Reasons Why New F1 Qualifying Rules can be a problem for the Front-runners

The qualifying in F1 is taking a new way in 2016, now the slowest  drivers will be eliminated after every 1 minute 30 seconds rather than being eliminated altogether after the end of each qualifying session. This interesting qualifying method may arouse problems for some of the front runners. We’ll find out if any of drivers faces these problems once lights go green for the qualifying sessions in the future. Let’s take a look at them:

Drivers getting stuck in traffic

Front runners which have greater horsepower than the back-markers will find them behind the rear wing of back-markers which can destroy their whole lap leading to their elimination from qualifying.

Changing weather conditions

Front runners can’t afford sitting back in the pits for weather conditions to improve which was a different story back in previous year qualifying sessions where drivers can wait for weather conditions to improve.

Less time to repair the car

To achieve better lap times some drivers go over the line to find more speed which can lead to a spin or a crash which may break some parts of the car. In such a situation mechanics have less time to repair the car and send it out for another lap.

Every lap must be the quickest lap

Drivers need to give their best shot as any lap can be the deciding lap and they might not be able to put a second lap time.
