Legends of Tomorrow: A Tribute to Classic Sci-fi/Horror Films

The 8th episode titled “Night of the Hawk” is the final episode before the show goes into a two-week break. From the point of view of pushing the narrative forward or leaving a jaw-dropping cliff-hanger in the end, the episode was a little disappointing and slow. This time Team Hunter tracks Savage in a sleepy town of Oregon, USA after hearing about a string of murders and missing people. The entire episode seemed like an ode to the classic horror genre of Hollywood.

Following are the movies that will come to your mind when you see the latest episode of Legends of Tomorrow:

X-Files:

When you see the meteor composed of nth element (alien mineral found in specific meteors) out of nowhere in the woods, you get the feeling of X-files wherein Mulder and Scully are investigating the possible alien colonization of planet Earth.

Pleasantville:

When we see inter-racial marriage (Kendra-Ray), inter-racial relationship (Betty and Jackson), Lesbian couple (Sara and Carlisle), you can’t help but think of the 1998 movie “Pleasantville” where two teenagers from 1990’s found themselves in 1950’s sitcom and they start to influence the nature of their society.

The Thing:

When you see Jackson being captured by Savage, and later Wave rider is attacked by Kronos, you will envision the classic horror film “The Thing” where American research base is attacked by alien force, and members are on their own to survive.

Gremlins:

When you see those Hawks created by Savage, you just can’t stop but think of 1984 Horror film “Gremlins” where a little boy unleashes a horde of mischievous monsters on a small town and wreaks havoc in the lives of the local residents.
