5 Turnarounds in India vs Bangladesh World Cup T20 Match

No one would have expected such a thrilling and nail-biting finish in a match where India had to win by a handsome margin to improve their NRR. Although, this wasn’t a typical Bengaluru wicket but India made a target of 147 look a tough mountain to climb for Bangladesh. There were many instances of turnaround in the match and here we look at each of them:

Raina’s little cameo underpressure

Suresh Raina hasn’t been in his bests of form and has been playing more like a bowling all-rounder in this tournament. He came in a tough situation and already was under immense pressure but started slowly and ended up with a 23-ball 30 which included 2 massive sixes. It was a good knock on that wicket under pressure.

MS Dhoni’s extra run

We didn’t get to see the last ball six by MS, but he ran that extra one run despite Ashwin’s will. It was never a double, but he makes it look so easy between the wickets. In the end, India won by a margin of 1 run.

Slippery hands for Bumrah

An easy fielding for Bumrah turned out to be a four on the very first ball of Bangladesh’s innings. The momentum changed when Tamim Iqbal was dropped by Bumrah again. Iqbal then started to look more expressive and hit 4 boundaries in an over to Bumrah.

Brilliant come back by India

When Bangladesh required 17 off 12 balls, it looked as if India were once again getting knocked out of a World Cup and that too against Bangladesh. But the man Jaspreet Bumrah, who had all bad day with the ball and in the field came back so strong with his magical yorkers and conceded just six singles in the over. From here, momentum again shifted back to India as they now had 11 runs to defend in last over.

The last over drama

Dhoni played a gamble when he had no other option than to go with Hardik Pandya for the last over. Rahim managed to get two boundaries and looked overjoyed already. When 2 runs were required of the last 3 deliveries, both the batsmen- Rahim and Mahmudullah hit the ball straight to the fielders. Jadeja grabbed a wonderful catch and brought India again back into the contest. Till now, everyone watching the match had suffered from a mini heart attack. Bangladesh now required 2 from last ball. Shuvagata missed the ball but Mustafizur ran to tie the match. But it was Dhoni’s presence of mind that he already had removed his glove and sprinted towards the stumps before the batsman could have reached the crease. India won the must win match by just 1 run and Bangladeshi fans were broken into tears.
