It has been a very memorable journey since Barclays became the official sponsor back in 2004. Let’s go down memory lane and experience one more time some of those shocking, surprising, thrilling, enthralling, exhilarating moments that took place in the most unpredictable and entertaining league in the world.

Friday, January 27, 2006. Robbie Fowler returned to Liverpool after 5 years. The fans were enraptured after the Englishman’s free transfer from Manchester City. Their love and happiness was clearly expressed through the ovation and the banners which read “God – Number eleven, Welcome back to Heaven.”

Newcastle United at Anfield. Wednesday, September 20, 2006. 5 hour goal drought for Liverpool came to an end as Dirk Kuyt scored past Steve Harper. But the moment of the day was Xabi Alonso’s unbelievable goal from 70 yards out which shocked the slipping and struggling Steve Harper and left everyone astounded as Liverpool went two up.

Arsenal at Anfield. Saturday, March 31, 2007. Arsenal had beaten Liverpool thrice already during the season, but this time Liverpool were always on top from the start and they thrashed Arsenal 4-1 thanks to a perfect hat-trick (right foot, header, left foot) from Peter Crouch and a goal from Daniel Agger.

Old Trafford. Sunday, March 15, 2009. Manchester United vs Liverpool – Certainly one of the biggest rivalries in football history. Both teams contesting for the Premier League as the game started. Liverpool were trailing after 23 minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty, but then shocked the majority inside Old Trafford, by thrashing their arch-rivals 4-1. Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard, Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena provided the goals as Sir Alex and his team were left humiliated in their own backyard.

Anfield. Sunday, March 06, 2011. Liverpool vs Manchester United. A day after Kenny Dalglish’s 60^th birthday, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez and Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt ran the show as Liverpool beat their Manchester rivals 3-1. Kuyt became the first player since Peter Beardsley to score a hat-trick against United.

Norwich City at Carrow Road. Saturday, April 28, 2012. Norwich are set to face Liverpool who have their prolific attacker Luis Suarez starting and he does exactly what is asked of him by netting a treble as Liverpool come out with a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Canaries. This wasn’t going to be the last time Suarez would score a hat-trick against Norwich.

Thursday, February 07, 2013. An emotional moment for everyone related to the club as legend Jamie Carragher announces that he will retire at the end of the season.
“It has been a privilege and honour to represent this great club for as long as I have and I am immensely proud to have done so since I was 9.” – Jaimie Carragher.

Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. Saturday, April 27, 2013. Striker Luis Suarez is banned as Liverpool have a challenging match against Newcastle. Many believed that it would be a close contest, but even without their star striker, Liverpool managed to put 6 goals past The Magpies and get all three points. Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge bagged braces while Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini scored to decimate Newcastle 6-0 in their own backyard.

Norwich City at Anfield. Wednesday, December 04, 2013. Liverpool were having a very good season as they were in the top four and were competing for the title after 4 years. The Canaries were haunted by Luis Suarez yet again. The Uruguayan scored 4 goals, one of which was a 40 yard beauty, which took his personal goal tally against Noriwch to a staggering 11 in 4 games. At the end of the season, Liverpool finished second and Luis Suarez won the Golden Boot.

Thursday, January 01, 2015. Another emotional moment for the fans. The end of an era as Steven Gerrard announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. He became only the third player ever to have 500 appearances for one club after Jamie Carragher and Ryan Giggs. The farewell games for Steven Gerrard ended in disappointment as Liverpool lost 1-3 to Crystal Palace at Anfield and then lost the final game of the season to Stoke. Gerrard scored, but Liverpool lost 6-1.
