India’s Next Top Model Winner Riya Subodh Shares Her Experience

Winning MTV India’s Next Top Model’s crown isn’t a cakewalk and if you are from a rather conservative family, your journey becomes even tougher. Riya Subodh’s journey was full of ups and downs.

In an exclusive interview with Quirkybyte’s Gourav Pilania, India’s Next Top Model winner Riya Subodh shares some of her experiences and takeaways from the journey.

Quirkybyte: How was your journey from just another Ahmedabad girl to going on to become the winner of MTV India’s Next Top Model?

Riya Subodh: It was actually pretty tough. I never stayed away from my parents. I didn’t even stay at my relative’s place. My mother used to constantly cry over the phone when I came here. Mumbai is such a big city and everyone in my family was worried about me. My dad and mom both supported me. Winning this was a dream come true. Winning the tasks gave me that much needed that task.

QB: You were the one who didn’t have as much experience and exposure to the fashion world in comparison to other contestants. Did you feel intimidated by it?

Riya: I was very intimidated. MTV means national TV. The bikini round was another time when I was very skeptical as to how my parents would take it. Both my parents supported me which boosted my confidence.

QB: What was the reason behind coming to MTV India’s Next Top Model?

Riya: I saw the 2nd season of MTV India’s next top model. I just wanted to experience what it felt like to be a part of such a big show. I never thought about journey post winning. Now, everyone calls me up and asks me for interviews. I am being constantly asked for autographs. That feeling is immense.

QB: What are the things you’ll take back from this journey?

Riya: One thing I’d be taking back from the journey is the shoot with Malaika Arora and Daboo Ratnani. This was a lifetime experience. They made me look extraordinary.

QB: What are the future plans post this? Would we be getting to see you on the big screen anytime soon?

Riya: I will definitely accept the good offers that will come down my way. I won’t restrict myself to one medium or platform. I will do TV and movies as well.
