‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ has a decent 1st 15-20 mins. Abhay (played by Aadi Saikumar) has a nightmarish experience when he navigates towards his own house when he’s alone. He is a monophobic youngster who shivers at the thought of living alone. His psychological disorder makes him take refuge in any crowded road, for example. At other times, he would fall back on his doting mother, a widow.
There is a point we see in every bad movie where you just give up. And, in the case of this film, it comes when Abhay turns out to be that typical commercial Telugu cinema hero who bashes up eve-teasers. Vaishnavi (played by Nuveksha) is instantly impressed. Love blossoms between the two and the screenplay implodes. Even when Abhay broke the 4th wall by speaking to the audience, we do not feel for him because his monophobic character has been shown in a very juvenile fashion.
