Rangam 2 is the story of Chandru, a jobless man, who decides to get a job after the father of his girlfriend opposes their relationship. But all his dreams of getting a job in an Islamic nation are shattered when he is nabbed there for carrying drugs.

Rangam 2 / Yaa‘s box office release was at first planned for June 2014 but it was pushed to October 2014. Dream Factory bought its global distribution rights. The theatrical release rights of the film in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Madurai were sold to Gopuram films. The satellite rights of the film were sold for INR 3.5 crore (USD 490,000) to Zee Thamizh.
