En Thangachi Padichava featured Prabhu, Rupini and Chithra in lead roles. En Thangachi Padichava was financially backed by the Duo: Mohan Natarajan and Tharangai V. Shanmugam and had musical score by Gangai Amaran and was released theatrically on 15 July 1988. En Thangachi Padichava completed a 100-day run at the box-office. It was one of the blockbuster hits of 1988 and became a reason behind future collaborations between Prabhu and P. Vasu. En Thangachi Padichava was remade in Bollywood as Aaj Ka Arjun, in Kannada as Ravimama, and in Telugu as Muddula Mavayya. It was later on also adapted in Bengali as Pabitra Papi.
