Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Ben Affleck Will Return as Batman-
Ben Affleck became a big part of pop culture after playing Batman in BvS. There was a lot of backlash upon his casting initially, but what people thought would be the worst part of BvS, turned out to be the best part of the entire 3 hour-long film. Suddenly people began to trust in Snyder’s vision (after the Ultimate Edition), and wanted more in particular from Ben Affleck’s Batman. He was always going to be a major part of the Justice League as he was the one to bring all the heroes together along with Diana. But as we all know, Whedon sort of turned him into a joke. Never did we think that we’d get to see sudden quips from Batman. That happened, but not anymore!!
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will redeem Batman. He will be turned from a dumb weakling to the smart bad-ass we expected him to be. There will be a lot more Parademon action than we got from Batman. Ben Affleck has always been a supporter of Zack Snyder ever since Snyder convinced him to start playing Batman in the latter stage of his career (which still has quite a bit left in it). He supported the release of the Snyder Cut and will possibly be back to do extra work upon the film now that it is coming out on HBO Max.
But will Affleck be back for more after that? If Snyder’s Justice League is successful and enthralls a massive viewership, then will HBO Max become home to a sequel directed by Zack Snyder? All that will only be answered in the future, but for now, let’s just theoretically say that we will get a Justice League 2 and possibly a Justice League 3 as well (as that is what Snyder initially intended). So will Ben Affleck be back to be a part of those films? Does he have it in him to give more to Batman after what happened in the past?
For these films to happen, a lot of pieces will have to be brought together. All the original actors might have to return. We know for a fact that Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher are all willing to return as their characters. So they’d be willing to do Justice League 2. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is going nowhere, so she’d probably be happy to sign a new contract. The tricky piece to bring back would be Ben Affleck.
Because of the politics that took place behind the scenes with Justice League, with Snyder getting fired and WB meddling with every bit of what Snyder wanted to do with BvS and Justice League, Affleck lost his interest from The Batman. He was excited to do his solo Batman movie and more of the Justice League sequels, but the constant drama on the set and in his personal life drowned in alcoholism. He took his exit after Snyder, and he is not really willing to take the cape & cowl back on. He is rather interested to do more small budget films like The Way Back, which is a big statement upon his life getting back on track.
But now that Snyder is back, things could change. Snyder & Affleck became great friends. Affleck even got close to Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, and other cast members of the Justice League. So if the A-Team reunites with Snyder at the front, then Affleck might be convinced to be the Bat once again. But don’t keep your hopes high for a solo Batman movie because WB has given in to Matt Reeves’ vision. Not doing a Batfleck vs. Deathstroke movie is a crime, but we’re gonna have to live with that.
If the Justice League sequels were to happen (theoretically) then there’s a massive chance that Affleck might return for more. But being practical about it, Snyder may have just been given the reigns to bring his vision to a close with just one film. So, the characters like Cyborg & Batman might get a pay off with just the Snyder Cut so WB doesn’t have to do more of it. But still, it is early days to say anything about the future of the DCEU. With the announcement of the Snydercut, we have learned to never say never. Everyone of our dreams with the DCEU could come true with AT&T taking charge of things.
