About the Movie
The movie Mouna Ragam is an Indian Tamil language romantic drama film, which is written and directed by Mani Ratnam while it is produced by G. Venkateswaran under the production banners of Sujatha Films. The film features Mohan and Revathi in the lead roles. The music of the film is composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
The cinematography and editing of the film are managed by P. C. Sreeram and B. Lenin, V. T. Vijayan respectively. The film narrates the life of Divya (Revathi), who is robbed of her carefree existence when she reluctantly marries Chandrakumar (Mohan).
Divya, mourning the shooting death of her former lover Manohar (Karthik), did not really want to be married. The story follows Divya’s inner conflict between holding onto her past and coming to terms with the present and making a life with Chandrakumar.
Mouna Ragam was released on 15th August 1986 with a run time of 145 minutes. The film got good reviews from the audience and critics as well.
The film also was successful to impress all of us with its box-office numbers. It was later dubbed in Telugu with the same title. The film was remade in Hindi in 1992 as Kasak, and in Kannada in 1999 as Chandrodaya.
