Mahendran, Bobby Simha and Guru Somasundaram.

In February 2018, Rajinikanth, after completing his filming commitments for Pa. Ranjith’s Kaala (2018), held final discussions with a group of directors including Atlee, Arun Prabu Purushothaman and Karthik Subbaraj for his next project. On February 23, 2018, the production house Sun Pictures announced that they would produce a movie which stars Rajinikanth to be directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Vijay Sethupathi was signed on for the movie to play a character in April 2018 & accordingly Sethupati reworked his dates to fit the movie into his busy schedule. The actor signed the movie after a month of media speculation that he would portray the role of a villain and revealed that he signed the movie as he had blind trust in Subbaraj & initially he did not request to listen to the script.
The Principal photography for the movie has begun in June 2018 and the first schedule of the shoot began on June 7 at Eastern Forest Rangers College at St. Mary’s Hill, Kurseong in Darjeeling. The initial portions lasted for nine days and the team then shot in other location across Darjeeling & the hill towns for another month in locations including St. Paul’s & Mount Hermon School.
The soundtracks of the movie have been composed by Anirudh Ravichander which means that the usual music director, Santhosh Narayanan has been replaced who collaborated for his films before. The movie is set to be released on 14 January 2019 during the Pongal weekend.
