April 27th 2017 was the day when everything changed forever for moviegoers with the release of Avengers: Infinity War. The entire realm of the Marvel Cinematic and its entire landscape changed dramatically with the advent of the Mad Titan Thanos into the series. There is this grim vibe to the entire movie, we see Thanos tear through hero after the hero and then we see him disassemble earth’s defenses as if they were nothing more than toys for children. The Mad Titan had as much hardship in beating the Avengers as you or I would’ve had in opening a jammed pickle jar. Thanos came, Thanos saw, Thanos conquered.
Not only that but the snap that ended half of life in all of the creation created a big gap in the cosmos, we were left with nothing more than a hole in our heart when the movie ended. The electricity of anticipation was only matched by the silence of mourning. Everything started so normally, who would’ve thought that at the end of the three-hour saga the good guys will be the one licking their wounds, for casualties are abundant. Well, we all sort of knew there were always going to be a bulk of random deaths in Infinity War, but the fandom also knew that these deaths were not going to be permanent.
Then came Infinity War and the Russo brothers took to press conferences to tell fans that everything that happened in Infinity War is going to have a lasting effect. However, no matter how much the brothers try to dissuade us, the fans know that Marvel is not going to kill off the characters that make the most money for them. Fandom has been trying to decode the future plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we have been continuously guessing how the MCU will be rebooted.
While doing the guesswork, we came across a theory on reddit that gives us substantial proof that one of the dusted characters are alive. The theory takes cues from interviews and the events that transpire during Infinity War and then adds on additional speculation to predict the plotline of Avengers 4.
Here’s the theory, as posted by Lord of the Dead End:
Dr. Strange isn’t dusted…
His body is, but before the Snapture he went into the Astral Plane…..
Evidence:
The ancient one said she couldn’t see beyond her death… If Strange dies, he can’t see the ending in the 14.2 million scenarios he saw…
In his movie, he was still in his astral form when his body died temporarily while he was fighting one of Kaecilius’s henchmen… That means he can EXIST apart from his physical form.
During an interview with Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch, Holland causally mentioned that Cumberbatch dealt with the quantum realm in Avengers 4.
Dr. Strange reportedly has a long scene in Avengers 4 that consumed 30% of the movie’s budget.
Theory: Strange is in his astral form and rescues Ant-Man from the Quantum Realm and uses him to drive the movie acting like a disembodied Ben Kenobi.
Now, the entire theory may seem a little far-fetched but it is definitely worth consideration. Never have we ever come across a theory on Infinity War on Reddit that gives us such substantial evidence. Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland all but confirmed that Strange is alive. If the entire premise is true then this theory stills perfectly well with the theory that expands on the cameo of Strange in the Quantum Realm. We may be pegged to see a sort of astral version of Strange that guides Ant-Man through the Quantum Realm and then further throughout time.
This theory also works with the fact that Strange is the only Avenger who actually has some experience in time traveling and the fact that he already gathered information on the position of all the infinity stones prior to Infinity War. This makes him an indispensable factor comes Avengers 4.
