Here’s What Happens To The Infinity Gauntlet At The End of Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest and probably the best MCU movie ever. This was not your typical Marvel movie which is just a light-hearted fun adventure, but it was way more than that, having real stakes and consequences. It broke the MCU template that it had consistently maintained which is in nutshell having a weak villain and happy endings where superheroes always triumph in the end.

The movie was a complete package as it had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humor, sci-fi moments and hardcore action. Russo brothers really pulled off a cinematic milestone which will be remembered in the times to come.

The movie has scripted history at the box office too as it has broken the record for opening weekend collections, according to latest numbers, it has earned over $250 million and is heading towards magical $1 Billion mark. The RT Score for the movie as it currently stands is 84%.

Right from the start of the movie, it was being teased that if Thanos managed to collect all the Infinity Stones, he would be able to wipe out half the population of the entire Universe with a Snap of his fingers. First Gamora teased it in the beginning, then Thanos told Doctor Strange the same thing.

Thanos’ main motive was to bring balance in this universe, and to do that, he was willing to do what no one else would, which was wipe out half the Universe’s population so that the half that would survive would not have to live in the poverty and can use the resources of the world in the most justified manner. So he began his quest for Infinity stones and stole them one by one, leaving a trail of death and destruction.

From the very start of the movie, it was shown that Thanos had Power stone i.e Orb, which means he must have attacked Xandar and destroyed Nova Corps in order to retrieve Power stone. He then blocked Thor’s vessel where he was carrying remaining Asgardians to Earth along with Heimdall, Loki, Hulk etc.

Thanos’ Black Order slaughtered the people and captured Loki who stole Tesseract from Asgard. The Mad Titan killed Loki & Heimdall right in front of Thor and took the Space stone by sheer force.

The next target of Thanos was Reality stone which was under the custody of ‘The Collector’, despite Gamora’s resistance, he set the entire facility on fire and got hold of the Infinity stone. For Soul stone, he sacrificed the soul of his own daughter Gamora and threw her off the cliff.

Doctor Strange gave up Time Stone in exchange of Tony Stark’s life and then Thanos teleported himself to Wakanda where the battle was going on over the last remaining ‘Mind stone’ which is in Vision’s forehead.

The movie ended in the most thrilling way possible and you would never have seen it coming and seeing the end we all had our jaws dropped on the floor. Thor came in, bashing his new Axe-Hammer Stormbreaker through the power of the Infinity Gauntlet and stabbing Thanos right in the heart.

But as Thor thought that he may have been successful at landing his final blow, Thanos says that you should have gone for the head, and does what was teased throughout the movie. He uses the full power of the Infinity Stones by snapping his fingers.

This causes half the population of the entire universe be eviscerated slowly and steadily. But before that, we saw that the Infinity Gauntlet was completely destroyed.

Once what was shiny and so magnificent was turned into something that was totally smashed and of no use anymore. The Stones were intact, but the Gauntlet was completely demolished and it seems that no one could ever use it again. The Thanos escaped and we saw him smile to himself, looking upon the Universe through a sunset. He knew that his final motive has been accomplished and his life was not a waste.

But why did the Gauntlet break? Eitri the Dwarf had made the Gauntlet which could hold the power of the Infinity Stones but, combining the 6 of them was way too much, even for the Gauntlet. Now since the Gauntlet was shattered into pieces, others may not be able to undo what Thanos did.

Moreover, Thanos may have scattered all the Infinity Stones into different places, so it will become really difficult for the Avengers to return and take down Thanos finding all the stones.

Even if Thanos did keep all the Stones together with himself, it would still be hard for the Avengers to even find Thanos. Perhaps, this is where Captain Marvel would come in. One thing we know for sure is that all the rest of the Avengers are going to be back to avenge the ones who died. Now, they would be as daunting as taking Thanos on again to retrieve all the Stones back.

But how will they undo everything? The Gauntlet is gone. So the only way left may bring Eitri back into the mix. We saw that there was the mould of the Gauntlet still left on Nedavelir, so Eitri may forge yet another Gauntlet with the help of Thor. Another thing that may happen would use the Quantum Realm.

Looking at the Avengers 4 set photos, it is believed that Avengers 4 will be a full on time travel event, so if the Avengers may not be able to get hold of the Time Stone again, then the Quantum Realm could come in. Hank Pym mentioned that Space and Time are not relevant in the Quantum Realm, so accessing that with the help of Ant-Man or even Captain Marvel, the Avengers may look to alter what Thanos did.

So, let’s see what happens. Infinity War is currently running in the theatres and Avengers 4 will come out next year on May 3. Both Infinity War movies are directed by Russo brothers who are extremely talented when it comes to big comic-book movies like Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.
