Infinity War: Here’s Why A Major Character Was Left Out of The Movie!!!!!!

It has been ten years since the MCU came and touched our hearts in all the right places. Ten years and 18 movies of incredible storytelling have led to this point in history. Infinity War is coming folks. And it brings with it every Marvel Superhero and Supporting character ever featured in the MCU. While it certainly is a big question mark as to which characters will be actually getting the screen space, we know that almost everyone will be getting some amount of the spotlight. We just don’t know how much of it will be given to our heroes. While all that is said and done, another lingering question has been still unanswered.

The Infinity Gauntlet saga has been the primary inspiration for Infinity War. But a major Superhero of the comic book arc is missing in the MCU’s Infinity War movie and we still didn’t know why up until now. Marvel has finally decided to answer why a Major character was left out of the movie.

Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have decided to answer why Adam Warlock was left out of the movie. The humanoid Superhero with the skin of gold was introduced to the Marvel Comic Universe about half a century ago and he played a major role in the 1991 Infinity Gauntlet comic book arc, the storyline which influenced the Infinity War movie.

The writers claim that introducing Warlock to the MCU would have required some necessary backtracks to the Marvel movie slate. Warlock would have had to be given a proper introduction in his own movie starring him before being included in Infinity War. That would have required additional time, money and resources and would have put the Infinity War project into the backburner. That is why the writers decided to not include him in the movie.

The guardian of the Soul Gem and a one-time wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, Warlock would have been perfect for the upcoming MCU movie but Christopher Markus, in an interview with ET Online, explains Warlock wasn’t included in Infinity War because the script would not have done him enough justice:

“We didn’t introduce Adam Warlock, because it’s a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can’t walk onscreen. So, there was a brief moment where we were like, Ehhh…, and then we were like– [He points to the movie’s poster.] We have that many characters already! And then there were others we couldn’t use. Like, Silver Surfer would have been useful, but we can’t touch him. Currently.”

In the same interview, McFeely and Markus go on to add interesting details about the Infinity War script:

Is there anything from your initial brainstorming or from those first drafts that got cut along the way that you wish would have made it in?

Markus: I will tell you something that you will go, “Oh, I’m really glad that’s not in there.”

Tell me.

Markus: A giant f**king snake. Just huuuge!

McFeely: Oh, we had a big snake. [Laughs] That’s right.

Is that true?

McFeely: Yeah, we had a big snake in there.

Markus: We were sort of running on empty and we were like, “Snake? Big snake? Let’s try big snake.” And then everyone went insane.

There is a huge Adam Warlock fan base that is foaming at the mouth right now as to why the guy wasn’t included in a movie that has a story which very much defines the Superhero in Marvel Comics. Warlock played an important and pivotal role in the Infinity Gauntlet saga. If he is introduced into the MCU, it must be with the same glory and flair that the character deserves. With a movie that is already bustling with Superheroes from all around the Marvel Universe, including a hero like Adam Warlock and giving him ample screen time just wasn’t possible for the writers. Now you know the reason.

Avengers: Infinity War has a release date slated for April 27th, 2018. The official film synopsis reads:
