Tom Hardy is one of the most hardworking, talented and sought after actor for the studios. He is wanted by everyone for major roles in action movies. He has earlier expressed his interest to play a superhero role, in fact, he could have been young Wolverine years ago but the studio did not greenlight the project. But nevertheless, he is the new Venom in the upcoming movie based on the character.
His trainer described him as humble and down-to-earth guy in the new training video. He revealed that the reason why Tom has to go through a crazy training regimen is because he is dealing with a comic-book character that turns into an 8’4’’ monster. Tom Hardy is known for undergoing insane physical transformations from Bronson to Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. Mene stressed that Tom always go the extra mile. He said:
“Most people, you give them the choice, they will always take the easy option. You want more? No, I’m OK.’ But not Tom. There’s always room for one more.”
In comics, Venom is a darker version of Spiderman who possess all his abilities and powers except his senses and an advanced Iron-Spidey suit designed by Stark Industries.
He has the power to evolve and adapt itself in different environments, has the unique ability to embody all the abilities of his opponent which makes him an unstoppable monster. He can never run out of webs as his suit can generate endless webbing.
The studio has added 50 Shades of Grey writer Kelly Marcel to the roster who will be responsible for revising the Venom script. Fans have begun to make fun as they are saying this movie will be “50 Shades of Black”. They are coining new phrases like Brock out or Cock out etc.
But keeping jokes aside, the insiders are saying that given Marvel’s screenwriting history this is a pretty bold move. She has earlier worked in Saving Mr. Banks, Bronson and upcoming Cruella.
It is now being reported that Venom could be adapting classic 90’s Marvel comics based on Lethal Protector storyline that sees Eddie Brock becoming a hero in San Francisco. But there are elements that will be done differently. In this particular comic-book plot, Spiderman plays a huge role and we know he won’t be appearing so that part will be removed completely. Sony has confirmed that Tom Holland’s Spiderman won’t appear in Venom spin-off but there is a possibility of Venom showing up in future Spiderman movies.
There is a group of mercenaries who call themselves “The Jury”, their tech on suits is based on Tony Stark’s designs and since Venom is not part of MCU that part need to be altered as well.
Here’s what you need to know:
“Before the story begins, Venom makes an agreement with Spider-Man that they will leave each other alone, on the condition that Venom commits no crimes. Venom then moves from New York City to San Francisco and takes up with a group of Californian mole people. Shortly thereafter the father of one of Venom’s victims seeks him out with a group of super-powered mercenaries to take revenge. Spider-Man, seeing misleading coverage of Venom on television, heads to San Francisco to confront him and instead winds up fighting alongside Venom against five new offspring of the Venom Symbiote: Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.”
The two trainers Nathan Jones and Mark Mene confirmed that the villain is Carnage but it’s the darkest and most terrifying version you will ever see. Mene said:
“What the world is going to see is one of the darkest, most powerful supervillains that Marvel has ever created. It’s going to be carnage.”
Moreover, it’s now officially confirmed that Michelle Williams (Drive, Manchester by the Sea) is joining the cast of the movie as the female lead.
Well, the studio did’nt say specifically about her character but the only influential female role she could play in Venom movie is of She-Venom or Bride of Venom.
In July, it was reported that Ann Weying is being introduced in Venom. She first appeared in The Amazing Spiderman #375 as ex-wife of Eddie Brock, a successful lawyer turned into Bride of Venom. It is almost certain that she is playing this character as Michelle Williams is a serious actress who don’t do insignificant roles just for a paycheck.
The latest news is that VEEP star Reid Scott (Dan Egan) has entered into negotiations with makers of Venom for a mystery role. He could be a comic-book character or a brand new character specifically created for the movie but no details are out yet.
He was Turbo’s voice in Netflix animated series TURBO FAST and recently was seen in Home Again alongside Reese Witherspoon. Moreover, Scott Haze is in talks to join the cast for an unknown role. He was part of Woody Allen’s Midnight Special and will be seen in the upcoming Josh Brolin starrer ‘Only the Brave’.
The movie is currently under production and filming is taking place in Atlanta. The popular actor Riz Ahmed will most likely play Carnage. The date of release is October 5, 2018.
