10 Highly Anticipated Hollywood Remakes

Hollywood loves remakes, sequels, prequels and spin offs these days. It is very hard to come by some original content these days. With so many old movies being remade we are tired of saying that the original was better. Let us take a look at some upcoming remakes that might not suck and could actually be good:

10. Dune:

Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel was adapted to the screen in 1984 and was a controversial movie in the 80s that didn’t do well at the box office. The remake is being directed by the talented Denis Villeneuve which has raised our expectations. Whatever happens, we are quite sure the remake will be better than the original adaptation in any case.

9. The Upside:

Based on the 2011’s French comedy that was highly successful has come all the way to Hollywood to get a new remake. Starring Bryan Cranston in the Cluzet role and Kevin Hart as the career, with Nicole Kidman and Julianna Margulies in supporting roles, the film will be directed by Neil Burger.

8. Suspiria:

The 1997 horror flick is a true classic and is extremely memorable and celebrated. Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is set to bring the remake on screens with Chloe Grace Moretz, Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton as the leads in the movie. The shooting has been finished and the film will hit the screens soon.

7. Splash:

The original movie had an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay and had Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah’s amazing performances. The film was a fantasy rom-com and the remake will have the same fantasy factor but with a new twist. The genders will be swapped and Channing Tatum will play the merman and Jillian Bell the human. This has made it exciting and a film that will be highly anticipated.

6. I Know What You Did Last Summer:

So the original movie took the 90s by storm and became one of the most successful horror flicks. Followed by two sequels that sucked and were huge flops the series died a disgraceful death. Now Mike Flanagan has taken the challenge to bring a remake to the screens and stick to the original novel by Lois Duncan which seems like a great idea after those unsuccessful sequels.

5. Mortal Kombat:

The video game is extremely famous and the 1995 film was fairly successful as well. The new remake is set to entertain you just like the video game. Warner Bros has said that it will be an R-Rated Avengers which has already raised the expectations to a great extent. The video game lovers must watch out for this one and put it on their list of the must watch remakes.

4. Charlie’s Angels:

First came the show in 1997 and then the 2000 adaptation followed by a sequel in 2003. The whole franchise has been successful even then Columbia never made a third film. Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu set the screens on fire with their amazing performances and now Elizabeth Banks is set to produce a remake that will hit the theatres in 2019. Seeing Banks’ track record with the Pitch Perfect movies it seems the remake is in good hands.

3. The Green Hornet:

You might have seen this Seth Rogen and Jay Chou-starring 2011 comedy movie that did not do well in the box office. Hollywood might be coming up with a remake of this movie. Even though the bar is set incredibly low here, but considering O’Connor’s skills in the action arena, there’s a good chance this one succeeds assuming it finds the right team of actors to play Britt Reid and Kato.

 2. Ocean’s 8:

movies

This star-studded extravaganza will leave you stunned as many talented actresses are coming together for this thrilling experience. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and many more superstars are together in this future blockbuster.  We’ll watch this one for the star cast itself! Brace yourself for the ultimate heist by sexy thieves who will leave no stone unturned.

 1.  The Lion King:

remakes

Lion King is a classic Disney movie that broke all barriers of awesomeness when it came out. Even now when you watch the film you will love it and the music gets better every time you hear it. So making a remake of such a tale can be very risky and can go both ways. Last year we got a remake of another Disney jungle epic ‘The Jungle Book’ which was highly successful so Disney has given the responsibility of the live action remake to the same director Jon Favreau. There is a good chance that this remake will be amazing but if it will surpass the epic classic or not is the question.
