10 Insane Weaknesses You Did Not Know Thanos Has

Thanos is probably the biggest of all the villains that Marvel has. He is surely going to be the biggest villain of MCU as the Avengers are going to feel his wrath in Infinity War. He wants to be nothing short of ruler of the entire cosmos, but for that he would need all the six Infinity gems to assemble the all-powerful gauntlet to have God like powers. He can literally reshape the worlds and rewrite realities using the gauntlet.

In the official trailer released by Marvel studios, Thanos has already acquired two Infinity gems – Space stone (Tesseract) and Power stone (Orb). He will come for the rest with his deadly Black Order who are the most vicious creatures doing the bidding of the Thanos.

With this, the Mad Titan would seem impossible to beat but surprisingly, he has a number of weaknesses the Avengers could exploit in order to take him down. Here is a list of weaknesses Thanos possesses.

Death

‘Death’ is the love of Thanos and a big weakness of his. She is the reason why Thanos is so determined to conquer and kill all life forms from various universes because he wants to please Death. The MCU does not have the original version of Death, but it is going to feature the Goddess of death, Hela in Thor 3.

She is the Death in MCU and this probably is why Thanos will attack earth in Infinity War. The Avengers could do something with Hela, use her as bait to have some leverage over Thanos.

God Cancer

In his most recent comic series, Thanos is weaker than he ever has been, due to the fact that he’s dying of a mysterious yet terminal disease. Word of Thanos’s weakness doesn’t stay secret forever, and it’s not long before his enemies start circling for the kill.

So, Infinity War could do something like this too.

Drax The Destroyer

In the MCU, Drax is an alien whose family was killed by Ronan on the order of Thanos, but in the comics, he actually is a human first and Thanos takes him down along with his wife and kids. Drax is the resurrected with a new body by the Titan Kronos.

Drax punches through Thanos from behind, ripping his heart out in his hand in a cosmic event.

Black bolt

Well if anyone tries to oppose Black bolt, the result will be that individual’s destruction. Thanos, on the other hand, not only attempted to confront him head-on but angered the Inhuman king so much that he shouted his rage toward the Mad Titan.

This not only threatened both of their lives but destroyed the Inhuman ancestral home of Attilan in the process.

His Son

Well in the MCU, the Black Order along with Gamora and Nebula seems to be Thanos’ children. Both of them have hatred for their father especially Nebula who wants to settle a personal score with him. There is another son of Thanos who was extremely dangerous and uncontrollable. One of the fan theories was that Thanos will send his Black Order to take his son down.

He has had many children in the comics and most of them were wiped by him only, but one was secretly kept alive by an Inhuman tribe on Earth. His son Thane chose to be like him and then imprisoned him in an amber prison of “living death”.

Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock in the comics is the key to defeat Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline but MCU seems to be saving him for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. It might be possible that he appears in Avengers 4 and Marvel is just trying to play with our minds.

The Writer-Director of Guardians of the Galaxy James Gunn revealed how he had to fight Marvel studios for Warlock’s appearance. He said:

“I had to fight for Adam in the post-credits sequence. Because I really thought that’s where that should go. And I thought one of the main reasons to have the Sovereign in the movie was to give audiences the hint that Adam Warlock is coming. That was one of the reasons for them to exist. And I wrote that post-credits sequence in the first draft of the script. And then there were a lot of questions about whether or not we should put that in there, because people were going to expect Adam Warlock in Infinity War. So one of the things I promised, which I do all of the time on Twitter, is letting everyone know that Adam Warlock is not going to be in Avengers 3 or 4. It’s just not going to happen. Because I didn’t want people to have false expectations of what they thought was going to happen with Adam.”

The Rot

The Rot explores the idea of just what happens when Thanos dies and his energy merges with that of Mistress Death, well in the MCU’s case, Hela. Very unlikely to happen in the movies, but in the comics, Thanos mixed his powers with Death, and nothing good came out of it.

In fact, their unholy union creates a void of nothingness in space that threatens Eternity itself.

The Heart of The Universe

It makes sense that if there were to ever be an end to the Marvel Universe, Thanos would be involved; so of course and this is what happened in the comics. The Heart of the Universe is an energy source of immense destructive power.

Thanos actually absorbs this power and tries to control it to reconstruct creation itself. Adam Warlock and Mistress Death then convince him to sacrifice himself to destroy creation. As a result, he dies and the day is saved from an imminent grave danger he put the world into. But this plot is unlikely to be adapted onto the big screen.

God Emperor Doom

Doctor Doom concocts a way to claim unlimited power and become God Emperor. Thanos joined forces with many other heroes, including Starlord, Groot, and Black Panther, to overthrow Doom in a planet-wide rebellion.

Well, Doctor Doom did fall, ultimately, but he proved that he can easily take out the Mad Titan. If he would have been in the MCU, Thanos would not have been the scariest thing. Also, Doom has almost been reincarnated in recent Marvel comics wherein he assumed the mantle of Iron Man and is portraying himself as a force for good. Well, tables would have turned and this time Doom would have joined Avengers and Guardians to take down the Mad Titan. This could have been EPIC!

Himself

Bigger than his enemies, bigger than his family, bigger than any other cosmic threat, Thanos’s greatest weakness will always be himself. He is a maniac who wants to be the most powerful cosmic creature and hell-bent on massive destruction. But he is not a stable actor.

It’s his insecurities about his own worthiness that will prove to be his downfall and that is what happened in the comics and the same thing could probably happen in Avengers 4. Although, we would love to see Thanos’ fall but his own hubris responsible for his collapse would be the last option.
