Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer: Who Would Lose And Why?
Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer: Death Battle
This cosmic battle would be a treat to watch. Green Lantern is probably one of the strongest Superheroes of the Justice League and Silver Surfer is one of the strongest cosmic heroes of the Marvel universe. If this space battle ever takes place, it is going to be really epic and long. It will be really tough to determine a winner as both the individuals are extremely powerful and have limitless powers. Let’s analyze both these heroes and find out that who will be the ultimate winner of this duel.
Green Lantern
There are various Green lanterns in the entire Green Lantern Corps. But the one in question over here is everyone’s favorite Lantern, Hal Jordon. Harold “Hal” Jordan was a second-generation test pilot, having followed in the footsteps of his father. He was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur, whose spaceship crashed on Earth.
Abin Sur used his ring to seek out an individual who was “utterly honest and born without fear” to take his place as a member of the corps. At that point, it was revealed that Hal Jordon was the one who matched the specified criteria on Earth.
Green lantern is extremely strong. He gets his powers from the ring he wears which is powered by Willpower. The stronger the will power of a lantern, the stronger he would be. The ring grants powers of flight and shields the Lantern as long as he focuses.
It allows a Lantern to conjure “constructs” solid green objects that he can control telekinetically. That means he can create whatever he imagines as long as he concentrates. Every solid construct is green in color. He can also shoot green beams straight out of ring taking down any opponent that stands in his way. Every Lantern has to swear an oath and Hal Jordon’s oath is –
In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil’s might,
Beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!
Silver Surfer
The Silver Surfer is a humanoid with metallic skin who can travel space with the aid of his surfboard-like craft. Norrin Radd was originally a young astronomer on the Planet Zen-La. He saved his homeworld from the planet destroyer Galactus in return of serving him for life. While serving Galactus gave him a portion of his cosmic powers, a new body along with a surfboard-like craft on which he could travel faster than light.
Earlier he searched for new Planets for Galactus to consume, but when he found Earth, witnessing the people of Earth he disagreed to follow Galactus anymore and opposed him and saved Earth but was exiled there.
The Silver Surfer is insanely powerful. The powers he possesses are superhuman strength, endurance, and senses, as well as the ability to absorb and manipulate the universe’s ambient energy. The Surfer can navigate through interstellar space and hyperspace, which he can enter after exceeding the speed of light.
He can survive in any known environment, even deep space and hyperspace and does not need any food, water, light, etc. to survive as he can convert matter into Energy. Along with all these powers, his Surfboard is mentally linked to him and is nearly indestructible. It grants him the god-speed that he has.
Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer: Battle of the cosmos
Green Lantern V Silver Surfer, These two individuals if put into a battle ring would cause immense destruction and their brawl would be really long lasting. Comparing the powers of both, the Surfer can create matter into energy and Lantern can create whatever he imagines into Matter and Energy so if the two would attack using these powers, it might have affected both of them equally.
Green Lantern can shield himself from Surfer’s attacks but the Surfer can travel at the speed of light, So here the Lantern might not even see him coming and his defense could be crushed.
Green Lantern V Silver Surfer, This fight once took place in the comics too. The two galactic protectors are upset at the idea of being forced to fight each other. Though they took no pleasure in the fight, still both refused to hold back, knowing that this fight is the only way to save at least one of their home worlds.
Green attacks Silver Surfer with a variety of increasingly intricate projections of his will, but he’s simply not able to overcome the Surfer. When Green Lantern’s final attack against Silver Surfer erupts in a massive green explosion, we see the Silver Surfer emerge victorious remarking that while he won, he’s never regretted an opponent’s defeat more.
So, the final verdict would say that Green Lantern even after putting in all he is got, would lose and the Silver Surfer would emerge victorious.
