Marvel producer Nate Moore recently stated that The producers are happy to get the origins story of T’Challa out of the way, which will give them more time to get into the depths of all the interesting bits of the character’s story in Black Panther. T’Challa/ Black Panther, portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, made his phenomenal debut to the silver screen in last year’s Captain America: Civil War.
Apart from just being efficaciously introduced in Civil War, T’Challa also had an integral part in the fight between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Steve Rogers). Being the third individual that helped the story to drive further than just Tony and Steve getting into their conflict. With all of this already happening, the character also had a journey of his own by taking on the mantle of the responsibilities of not just being Black Panther, but also King of Wakanda.
In the post-credits scene of Civil War, he can be seen back in his country foretelling teeny tiny bits of what can the fans expect from his standalone flick.
In a recent interview with Complex, Moore teases some things about what would the McGuffin of T’Challa’s story will be in next year’s Black Panther. And without being much specific about the details, he tells that a lot of the key plot points from the film will be about what the new king of Wakanda has to deal with after the events that took place in Cap 3.
“What’s great is that people have already met Chadwick [Boseman] in Civil War, so now we get to jump in feet first without having to tell a more traditional origin story. We meet him as his world is changing. Black Panther takes place right after the events of Civil War, so T’Challa’s father has just been killed, he has returned home to Wakanda, and T’Challa has to navigate potentially becoming the new ruler of this nation. He never intended to become the king for years because he figured his dad would be around for a long time. T’Chaka’s death is, in a lot of ways, the catalyst for everything that’s happening in Black Panther.”
Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors together with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the screenwriters did a fantastic job in complexly weaving T’Challa’s own version of an origin story into Civil War. What more we can expect from the film is that there will be some political friction brought about by his decision to nest tagged vigilantes in Steve and Bucky (Sebastian Stan). The fans are as excited as they should be with such a different character with a quite different story and an even more different narrative of the film.
