4 Greatest Movie Mentors Who Actually Suck At Their Jobs

We have been made to believe that great leaders or mentors possess qualities like nobility, bravery, wisdom, fortitude, and professionalism. If we look at the Hollywood movies, people like Albus Dumbledore or Nick Fury are often considered to be the greatest teachers who greatly contributed to the success of their students. But the reality is somewhat different as you can’t be a great leader if you fail to set an example yourself.

Here’re four movie mentors/teachers who are totally overrated by fans:

Nick Fury (Director, S.H.I.E.L.D):

mentorsHe is considered to be the world’s greatest super spy, a master planner who is always ten steps ahead of his adversaries. He has trained agents like Phil Coulson, Mariah Hill etc. Yet, right under his nose thousands of Hydra agents infiltrated the S.H.I.E.L.D and buried it. Recently, in Marvel comics when Captain America has become evil, he is nowhere to be seen and his “trained” Agent Coulson is hunted down and killed like nobody.

Albus Dumbledore (Professor, Hogwarts School of Wizardry):

Albus Dumbledore is the most admired and respectable figure at Hogwarts School of Magic. He taught Harry Potter and prepared him to fight an ultimate battle against Lord Voldemort. A teacher’s job is to educate “all” his children and give them tools to carve out their bright future. But he spent his entire time preparing one child while discriminating against others.

Charles Xavier (X-Men):

He is hailed as the greatest mentor for the children with special mutant abilities. He opened a dedicated school to give them a safe environment and help them harness their abilities to achieve great things. Did he really succeed? Well, he couldn’t even convince Magneto to control his limitless powers and spent eternity fighting him.

Yoda (Star Wars)

He is the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. He comes across as an elder of the realm who has gyaan for everything. He has ancient knowledge and wisdom but he failed to avert any disaster. He sensed wrongdoings in the Senate but didn’t do anything. He is a mute spectator and watches Anakin turns to the dark side. Is he really wise?
