Mission Impossible is one of the most loved franchises that have a huge fan following across the globe. Top-notch action sequences and the ultra-stylish making helped the series to attain a cult status. No one can replace Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, as the character has made a deep impression on us and we can’t even imagine anyone else reprising his role. There are also several other important and lovable characters who have assisted Ethan Hunt in several of his missions. William Brandt played by Jeremy Renner is one such character and we have seen him in Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) and Mission Impossible – Rouge Nation (2015).
The movie, which is currently under development will begin its production by the end of 2016 or by next year. Jeremy Renner’s return to the franchise remains an unanswered question as we don’t have any official confirmation regarding the topic. However, during an interview with Collider, Jeremy Renner opened his mind when he was asked about avenger. The actor would be spending a whole lot of 2017 for reprising the role of Hawkeye (Clint Barton) in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers 4 (2019).
He said: “MI6, I’m not sure what’s happening. I think it’s going to be coming down to…I know that they’re really wanting to get it going, and I haven’t spoken to Tom yet about where it’s at. I know there might be some conflict with schedules, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen. Avengers is gonna eat up a lot of next years. Gladly, but I certainly hope it doesn’t ultimately get in the way of Tom and I and the gang getting back together for that because I’d love to.”
So it’s pretty clear from his words that even though, he would love to be a part of MI6, his commitments with MCU is pushing him backward. Another thing which surprises us all is the lack of communication from the production team and creative minds. In March, Jeremy asked director Christopher McQuarrie via Twitter whether he should start preparations for the next installment. Christopher McQuarrie replied – “Wear comfortable pants. You’re gonna need ‘em.” Even though it was a cool exchange, the question still remains unanswered.
It was reported earlier that the studio had a salary issue with Tom Cruise which made the production company to momentarily pause the pre-production works. The issues were later resolved as the Mission: Impossible franchise would become a huge failure without Tom Cruise. Stay tuned for more updates regarding MI6.
