Five Things That Made Us Proud of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi

Moving ahead from a tea stall to the local shakas (training sessions) from the land of Gujaratis, to the land of North Indians, our Honorable Prime Minister is an epitome of success. Leaving behind the 14 years throne of the state of Gujarat, he walked in victorious in the general elections of 2014 and preceded Mr.Manmohan Singh. He is the 15th Prime Minister of India, a leader who pledged to make India a better place to live. He is the leader who has changed the perspective of politics in the young guns of India. In his first speech at the Red Fort, he rendered a speech that moved the nation. “Ask your sons to behave, rather than asking your daughters.” A leader who is busy travelling from one nation to another, making relationships stronger and bringing in business ventures to India. A leader, who was once congratulated for the “Vibrant Gujarat,” is moving on with the “Make in India” campaign. Five instances that make us proud that we have a Prime Minister named “Narendra Damodardas Modi”. September 25, 2014, witnessed the introduction of the “Make in India “campaign. It is an initiative to bring the foreign investors to India for the manufacturing of their products. It aims at turning India into a global manufacturing hub. The 25 sectors which are to be the major focus area during this initiative are- automobiles, chemicals, IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ports, aviation, leather, tourism and hospitality, wellness, renewable energy, mining, railways, biotechnology, electronics and design manufacturing. With this, the government hopes to increase the GDP growth and tax revenue of the country. The campaign was designed by Wieden+Kennedy. Image Source- theforthright.com Swachh Bharat Abhiyan- an initiative towards clean and healthy India. The campaign was flagged on October 2, 2014. A tribute to the “Father of the Nation” on his birthday. India of his dreams- a cleaner India. Mr. Modi himself started this campaign by sweeping the road. It is one of the biggest ever cleanliness drives and more than 3 million government employees and students have participated in this effort. Mr. Modi had selected 6 public figures to propagate the campaign- Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Ambani, Salman Khan, Shashi Tharoor, Kapil Sharma and Virat Kohli. The construction of toilets is one of the major aspects of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Image Source- indiatoday.intoday.in June 25, 2015 witnessed the flagship of the scheme- 100 smart cities in India. The scheme also includes the initiative to modify villages into “smart villages”. The villages would be a place with adequate water supply, sanitation, low carbon energy and Internet access. A goal has been set for about 2,500 smart villages by the year 2019. As quote by Mr. Modi in one of his speech: “For the first time in India, a challenge was being floated in which the citizens of urban India could contribute in the formulation of development visions of their cities”. It is a service that would abolish the tedious paperwork and make the facilities available to the citizens via the electronic media. It aims to connect the rural areas with high speed internet facility. Three core components of the programs are, creation of digital infrastructure, delivering services digitally and digital literacy. This would help India in the shoulder to shoulder progressive walk with other nations. The government plans to initiate the construction of about 20 million affordable houses for the poor people of India dwelling in the slums. The Modi government has urged the private sector companies to come up and lend a helping hand in the construction of the low-budget homes for the people.
