5 Things Hollywood Got Wrong About Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is one of the finest and well-made comic book characters of all time. The very first movie in the X-Men series was released in the year 2000 and since then, Hugh Jackman has portrayed the role of Wolverine in eight films till date including cameos. He will be playing the character for the ninth and final time in the upcoming movie Logan, which will hit the screens on March 3, 2017. If you look at the X-Men franchise as a whole, it has been pretty decent and Hugh Jackman’s wolverine has played a great role in that. But the fact is that his solo movies were not that great and there are also some problems with the characterization of Wolverine. Let’s have a look at 5 things Hollywood got wrong about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

His Size and Stature

This one is not a criticism and we all are well aware of the fact that X-Men movie universe is not same as that of the Marvel comic book universe and therefore we can’t expect everything to be exactly same. In the comics, Wolverine is fat and short. Even though wolverines are short in reality, Hollywood never characterize Wolverine as short and fat. Could you imagine superheroes like Superman and Batman being depicted as short and fat guys? And exactly this principle is applied here. Hugh Jackman is really lean and tall and is exactly opposite to what we have seen in the comics.

His Looks

Hugh Jackman is really appealing as Wolverine and we don’t have any arguments regarding that. But the truth is that Hugh Jackman doesn’t possess the correct looks to portray Wolverine (a faithful version). Wolverine is highly animalistic in nature and is a rough and tough guy. He is actually really untidy and is entirely different from the Hollywood good looks of Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman’s looks in the X-Men series too clean and tidy and therefore, it is an untruthful adaptation Wolverine.
