Captain America Civil War: Easter Eggs and Hidden Secrets

Captain America Civil War was the most anticipated superhero movie of 2016, equivalent to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the Marvel fans. It opened to the massive opening, the global box office collections crossed a Billion dollar mark. Due to loss of property and human life as a result of Avengers actions, General Ross pointed out the need for maintaining oversight through Sokovia Accords to be ratified by 117 nations, which will appoint a special UN Panel to keep checks and balances on Avengers missions. This created deep fissures among Tony Stark and Captain America resulting into a division of Avengers into two camps: Team Iron Man and Team Cap.

There was a whole host of comic-book easter-eggs and secrets you may have missed in the movie, for instance, Tony Stark using the phrase “timely gift” while giving a pen to Steve Rogers and Timely comics is the old name for Marvel comics until it changed in 1960’s. The new tech toy of Falcon is called as “Red Wing”, in Marvel comics Red wing is actually a red falcon which allows him to fly out of his backpack, so when Captain America told Scarlett Witch to throw him into the building as practiced, it’s their version of fast-ball special when colossus used to throw Wolverine in X-men comics. The new Spiderman played by Tom Holland is using mechanical web-shooters, an upgraded suit made by Tony Stark as a gesture to lure him into Avengers, in Marvel comics on several occasions Spiderman has been offered membership into Avengers, but he often turns it down.

Scott Lang putting up his giant act in the Ant-man, repeats it in Civil war, it was a clear shout-out to Hank Pym who became a giant man for the first time in 1963 comic-book title “Tales to Astonish” 49. Finally, we saw Jim Rash who plays Dean Craig Pelton on Community (a show directed by Russo Brothers) playing an MIT Official speaking to Tony Star after he announced scholarship funding for students’projects.
