7 Ways To Get Better Sleep At Night

A sound sleep is crucial for a human body. Sleeping is the only time your body and mind rejuvenate. A good night’s sleep can make you feel more energetic and happy in the morning.

If you are unable to feel fresh in the morning, chances are you might not be able to get a sound sleep. In that case, you just need to follow these pointers to make yourself more comfortable in your bed.

Follow a routine

Trying not to be your mom, its true! Maintaining your body clock can help you in getting a sound sleep. You need to follow the routine of waking up and going to sleep at nearly the same time every day.

People nowadays don’t have a proper schedule of sleeping or waking up. This disturbs the whole body clock and after a period of time, they face problems like these. So, make a schedule which suits you and stick to it.

Reserve the bedroom for sex and sleep

That’s right! No TV’s in your bedroom. The goal of crashing on your bed should not be playing some game on your phone or watching your favorite series. The bedroom should be used for relaxation (and having sex). Also, check the temperature of your bedroom. It shouldn’t be too cold or hot. That might also make you uncomfortable while you are trying to sleep. In addition to that, make sure you are using a mattress with correct thickness. It could be a really important factor in your sleep quality.

Ban the soft glows in the bedroom

The soft innocent notification light of your cell phone or the street light outside trying to get inside your privacy might be affecting your sleep more than you think. So, ensure that you keep your cell phone away and cover the windows properly. These small things surely affect your valuable sleep.

Try and Evade Naps

Having a loooooong nap in the afternoon is a substantial proof of you not being able to sleep at night. Try to avoid it, completely. You will feel tired and will have a good sleep at night. If you can’t, make sure that you keep it short for around 15-20 mins (Or for 7.5 mins, like Viru Sahastrabudhhe).

If your eyes start getting heavy in the afternoon, try distracting yourself by either doing some physical activity or going out or something else.

Don’t overload your tummy at the dinner table

We understand that you have your favorite dish (I am guessing Pav Bhaji) in front of you. But, don’t try to overeat (and don’t curse me). Overeating or drinking might make you uncomfortable and you might get restless. This can be one reason you can’t sleep at night.

Cut the caffeine out

One thing which you should not do is to drink coffee before sleeping. Coffee tricks your body into feeling more awake and this might be one reason you just cannot sleep at all. Try to stop the intake of caffeine at least three hours before your sleep time (we decided the routine, remember?).

Cancel out the Noise

It might be your child or your husband or the fan or the stray dogs or the watchman or your newlywed neighbors. All these criminals do the crime of not letting you sleep properly. Ensure that your room is well covered and locked so that no outer sounds wake you up. You can use cotton or ear-plugs for the rest (if you know what I mean).

Ensure that you follow these steps to get a good night sleep. In case you still find difficulty in sleeping, you might be one of the Enrique Iglesias’ albums! Good night, folks!!
